Around the Classes

This week while working with the Year 6 class, it was interesting to listen to their children’s stories. They had a common theme they all had to write about: giraffes. There were giraffes in rocket ships, giraffes on planes and giraffes with flatulence issues! The students, working in pairs, were fully engaged in their writing and enjoying the opportunity to share the writing experience.

Sitting in on the lesson with the Year 2 class, they were learning Italian. Reading Pappagallo, Seniora Famiano immersed the children in written and oral language as they listened to the book and had to name the colour of the parrots and how many there were. The children enjoyed the opportunity to interact in Italian with the teacher and each other.

SAM Club

An important part of teaching is our own learning. Each month we have SAM (Structure-A-Month) Club where our marvellous Miss Pin teaches the staff about a cooperative learning strategy. On Wednesday afternoon, staff enjoyed learning about Numbered Heads Together and what better way to learn than by practising it amongst ourselves? We understand the impact of collective teacher efficacy and structure our PLC meetings to be on Wednesdays so all teachers can attend.
