Sacraments and Mass

As sent out in communications from Dr Galos, we have postponed our Sacraments until later in the year. This was supported by recent announcements from the Archdiocese of Perth declaring that Sacraments for all parishes shall be postponed. Additionally, the Archdiocese has also cancelled all Masses for the next fortnight. We will await further notice before planning our Term 2 Mass calendar and inform parents early next term.

Absences

We will be sending out letters with dates of unresolved absences for this year. Please use the Connected App to resolve these dates.

We understand that, due to caution, some students are staying home for illness and precautionary reasons. We need your assistance in keeping our records up to date. If a student is away, please use the Connected App to explain the student absence. Another way is to send an email to admin@stmichaelsbass.wa.edu.au listing the student’s name, date of absence, reason for absence and guardian full name in the email. If it does not contain the full details, it cannot be counted as a legal document.

If a student will be away for the near future, please write an email with the expected dates.

Swimming Carnival

Last Friday, we had a glorious day with the sun shining and light breeze. The students enthusiastically boarded the buses to Bayswater Waves and were ready to dive right in. All the factions cheered with great energy and raced in good spirits. Thanks to Miss B for her efforts organising the carnival and all the parent helpers, along with the teachers, who made this day happen. Well done to Kelleher for their win and the exceptional speech from the leaders thanking everyone.

Assemblies

With no assembly this week, the Year 6 class created a video to share school messages. It demonstrated great creativity in thinking about ways to share information and it looked enjoyable to make. It was highly engaging to share important information and keep the school routine.

Harmony Day

The students have arrived today wearing orange to celebrate Harmony Day. Australia is a growing multicultural nation and we look to celebrate the histories and cultures from different countries. The students have been completing activities throughout the week to learn about the heritage of different classmates and celebrate them.

Media Ministry

Hello parents, friends and children of St Michael’s primary school,

Some students have been worried about the coronavirus lately and the Media Ministry are going to give you some tips on how to help your children stay healthy and clean.

  1. Wash your hand for up 20 seconds each day (maybe sing happy birthday to yourself).
  2. Eat heathy things like fruit, vegetables and protein.
  3. Try not to touch your face.
  4. Try not to shake other people’s hands or high-five, use your elbow instead.
  5. Don’t hug your friends.
  6. Use hand sanitizer that you can find in your classroom.
  7. If you feel sick, stay at home and rest so you don’t get everybody else sick.
  8. Always cough or sneeze into your elbow so you don’t give your germs to others.
  9. Try to stay at least a metre away from each other
  10. Wash your hands before and after you eat.

Great work to all the students that participated in the St. Michael’s swimming carnival especially the Year 3 class because it was their first St Michael’s swimming carnival. It was the Year 6 students last carnival. Congratulations to our talented champions and runners up:
