Makuru Season

At the moment, it is the Noongar season of Makuru (the cold and wet time of year). The Library currently has an array of some wonderful fiction and non-fiction resources for the students explaining all about what is going on in nature at this time of year as well as the changes in the weather. Thank you to Mrs Stenning and her volunteers for continuing to provide us with these engaging and interactive displays.

Sacrament of First Reconciliation

On Wednesday 29 July, 30 student candidates from St Michael’s participated in their First Reconciliation ceremony at St Joseph’s Parish. It was a reverent and extra special occasion for all the students and their families as it represented our first sacrament after delays earlier this year. We thank Father Son and Father Anand for leading our liturgy and for guiding the children through their examination of conscience, helping them make their confessions, for providing absolution and giving penance.

A big thank you to Mrs Thompson and Mrs Saunders, and all the St Michael’s staff who supported this Sacrament through their assistance and preparations. Special thanks to Mr Powles and Mrs Stewart respectively for creating the certificates and the beautiful display for the altar and to Mrs Albert for her beautiful musical accompaniment of our liturgy.

Jemima Saunders
