Assistant Principal News

What a term! Term 3 saw momentous events occur. We had numerous masses, the students continued to visit Aegis Aged Care, students participated in Catholic Performing Arts and were acknowledged for their talents, Jumps and Throws Day along with a cold Athletics Day where students tried their best, we all flashed our pearly whites for school photos, we were blessed with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, we raised money for Mercy Sisters, the Pre Primary visited the zoo, Year 1 and Year 2 had a visit from the West Oz Wildlife. Open Night included the URstrong Workshop and the students did a wonderful job performing in the Talent Show. I am sure there were others that haven’t been included and amongst all that there was learning happening. All the above events would not be possible without the team effort of the students, teachers and parents. Thank you to the school community for all your support and assistance this term and we look forward to another great term after the holidays. Have a safe and enjoyable break.

Talent Show

A big congratulations to all the students who participated in the Talent Show on Tuesday. What a truly inspiring event to see so many courageous students get up in front of the crowd and share their gifts. There was singing, dancing, band performances and comedy. Great work students on your commitment and preparation for the event. A huge thank you to our marvellous music teacher who makes it all happen- Mrs Panizza. Mrs Panizza has given up many lunch times to assist the performers hone their skills in readiness for the day. Also, well done to the Year 6 hosts for running the day.

NAPLAN Student Reports

NAPLAN student reports were sent home on Friday. The information presented is an opportunity to track learning and combine with other data to monitor student learning. It is important to note that it is a snapshot, a one test score, and should not be used as the only measurement of your child’s growth.

Summer Uniform – Term 4

Students will need to return to school wearing correct Summer Uniform, which consists of the following:
Girls – Summer Dress, White Ankle Socks and Black School Shoes.
Boys – Grey Shorts, White Shirt, St Michael’s Grey School Socks and Black School Shoes.

There will be a two-week period of grace for the transition from Winter to Summer Uniform. Please
assist us by ensuring your child is dressed neatly and in the appropriate uniform.

Australian Primary Principal Conference

For the final days of term, the Leadership Team have attended the conference and heard from learned educational speakers who have inspired and challenged our thinking. There has been a clear message about the changing world and how this will flow through to education. We look forward to taking the messages we have heard and sharing with staff.

Term 4 Calendar

The dates for upcoming events can be found on the school calendar located on the St Michael’s website.

Footy Tipping

I’m sure there are many excited Eagles fans out there who are looking forward to the next two weekends. The footy tipping competition is pretty close as well with only 2 tips between the leader and second. Thank you to Rebecca Dwyer for her efforts in running the footy tipping competition again this year. Our predictions for the grand final are:

Mr Powles- Grand Final Richmond vs West Coast. Premiers Richmond
Mrs Liebregts- Grand Final Richmond vs Melbourne. Premiers Melbourne
