Message from the Principal – Newsletter 02
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Our first Parents and Friends (P & F) meeting for the year will be on Monday 18th February at 7.30pm in the staffroom. All St. Michael’s parents are automatically members of the P&F and so everyone is most welcome to attend the meeting. We encourage you to come along to meet new people and have your say about how to spend the P & F funds. We also value your ideas on fundraising events. Please note that we are looking for a new P & F president, secretary, and new class reps. Please consider putting your hand up for these roles.
P & F Welcome Event
Information regarding the upcoming P & F welcome event can be found in the School News section of this newsletter and a booking form has been posted on the Connected App. This will be held next Friday night (22nd February) at the Bassendean outdoor movies. We would love to see you all there!
Robotics Club – Starting Monday
The Bricks4Kidz robotics club will commence this coming Monday 18th February in the library. The session will commence at 3.30pm, however, St Michael’s students are asked to head straight to the library after school where they will be supervised by the Bricks4Kidz staff and can have some extra time using the equipment. For more information and to enrol your child go to: https://www.bricks4kidz.com.au/perth-gosnells/program-events/after-school-programs-lego-bricks.
Kindy 2020 – Enrolments now open
Enrolments for Kindy in 2020 are now open and we will be conducting interviews in Term 2. Please spread the word and if you have a child who is eligible for Kindy next year, please see reception for an enrolment form. Siblings of St. Michael’s students are given preference, however, we do still need an enrolment form completed. We currently have waiting lists and we don’t want any siblings to miss out on a place because we weren’t aware of them!
Closing Gates and Supervision
Please be aware that we have some precious little people in our school who like to run and explore. Hence, we have gates to keep them safely on our school grounds. Please be aware, particularly in the mornings, of closing the gate behind you on the Hamilton Street side of the school and the gates to the junior primary area. Please also be mindful of who may be following you out of the junior primary gates – please ensure that none of our wonderful little humans are following you out unattended!
We are noticing that a number of students are being dropped off at school very early in the morning. Please be reminded that supervision is not provided until 8.20am and students should not be dropped off and left unattended on school grounds before this time.
We appreciate your support with these matters.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

In his new apostolic exhortation ‘Gaudete et Exsultate’, Pope Francis tells us that we have one clear criterion on which we will be judged: ‘I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me’ (Matt 25:35 – 40).
