Message from the Principal – Newsletter 26

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Thank you to Pamela Mahar and the P & F for organising tonight’s Bogan Bingo! We are looking forward to a great night and hope to see you all there. Doors open at 7.30pm!

Athletics Carnival

Well done to all students who participated in the Athletics Carnival Throws day today. The running races and team games events will be held on Wed 9 September at Ern Clark Athletics Track. Thank you to Miss Natalie Brescacin for all the work that has gone into the preparation for the carnival and thank you to all the parent helpers who assisted Nat today!

Fathers’ Day Breakfast & Upcoming Student Free Days

A reminder that all dads are welcome to attend our Fathers’ Day breakfast and activities next Thursday morning (3 Sept) which commences at 7.45am.

A reminder that Friday 4 and Monday 7 Sept are student free days. Friday 4 Sept is our ‘Catholic Day’ when the school is closed for both staff and students. Our ‘Catholic Day’ is the one additional day of leave that staff in Catholic schools receive in recognition of the additional events that they are required to attend on evenings and weekends such as sacramental events. Each school is able to select one day per year as their ‘Catholic Day’ as long as it is attached to a weekend or school holiday period. Monday 7 Sept is a student free day and staff will participate in a Culturally Responsive Pedagogies Professional Development which is a strategy identified in our current Aboriginal Education Plan.

New Catholic School – Emmaus Catholic Primary School

CEWA Ltd. has recently acquired a new addition to our system – Riverlands Montessori School in Dayton/Brabham. The Most Reverend Timothy Costelloe SDB, Archbishop of Perth, has given his blessing and approval for the school to be renamed Emmaus Catholic Primary School from 1 January 2021 and Mr Sandro Coniglio has been appointed as Foundation Principal (currently principal at Mary’s Mount Catholic Primary School in Gooseberry Hill). On Tuesday I will be assisting Sandro to interview for an Assistant Principal position for Emmaus CPS so I ask that you keep this school community in your prayers as important decisions are made and they enter a period of great change. May God bless them and watch over them during this exciting yet, no doubt, challenging time.

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

Next week is the Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. Our teachers will be providing a thank you morning tea and I encourage parents and students take the time to thank our passionate, dedicated and talented teacher aides next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

God bless
