Message from the Principal – Newsletter 36

Dear Parents and Caregivers

I hope you have all had a lovely week and are continuing to find ways to take care of mental, emotional and physical wellbeing as the pressures associated with this busy time of the year begin to take hold!

AGM

Thank you to all who attended our AGM on Monday evening. Next year our school board will have a name change. This is a result of the change to Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA Ltd). The Catholic Education Commission of WA (CECWA) is the now the board of CEWA Ltd and has responsibility for governing Catholic Education in WA and for ensuring its financial sustainability. Hence, Catholic school boards will now be referred to as the Catholic School Advisory Council to reflect CEWA Ltd’s new governance structure.

As determined at the AGM, despite the name change, the membership of our School Advisory Council will remain the same next year: Dr Dave Parsons, Elliott Brannen, Amanda Versace, Sue Criniti, Daniel Stefanelli and Emma Walke. Council roles will be determined at the first meeting of 2021 including the P & F representative on the Advisory Council.

Congratulations to Neera Mukherjee who is our new P & F President for 2021! Thank you for accepting this important role Neera. Thank you also to Melissa Maiolo and Kristy Mouchemore who have agreed to stay on as P & F Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

My sincere thanks go to our outgoing P & F President, Tanwyn Travers and Jac Wilson, our P & F Rep on the School Board. Thank you both for your outstanding dedication and time commitment to these roles.

Awards Night and Edudance Concert

Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements, we have had to modify the structure of the Awards Night and Edudance Concert (Monday 7 December).

To minimise the number of people attending the event at any given time, the evening will be conducted in two sessions:

  1. K – 2 Edudance performances: 5.30 – 5.50pm

Intermission

  1. Awards night, Choir and Years 3 – 6 Edudance performances: 6pm

Unless you have students performing in both sessions, families will be asked to only attend the session that their child/ren is/are involved in. Please keep an eye out for a letter from Ryan Powles explaining all the details.

Playground Seating/Storage Boxes

Our new playground seating/storage boxes arrived this week and look fantastic. They were designed for us by Mrs Mueller’s husband so that we have dual purpose storage containers for our spare parts play equipment. Thank you to Steven Mueller and to the P & F who funded half the cost. The other half of the cost was covered by a Local Schools Community Fund grant from the Federal Government. Later in the term we will be providing details about what spare parts we need donated for our spare parts play in 2021 so that you can keep an eye out over the school holidays!

Key 2021 Dates

Please include these 2021 student free days and important back to school dates in your diaries for next year:
