Message from the Principal – Newsletter 09
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Miss Brescacin, along with the help of Mr Caddy and Mrs Schnell, have taken our squad to Belmont Oasis to participate in the Interschool Swimming Carnival. We wish them all the best for the day and are proud to have them representing the school. The question on everyone’s mind is- Can Miss Brescacin lead the squad to back-to-back titles? We will keep you updated in next week’s newsletter!
Congratulations – First Reconciliation
Congratulations to our Year 3 students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Wednesday night! We appreciate the family of the Sacramental program and a big thank you to Mrs Saunders and Mrs Thompson for preparing the students. Additionally, thank you to Mrs Marzo and the Year 2 class for their mass which focused on forgiveness earlier in the day which taught the school about the importance of saying sorry and forgiving.
P & F Meeting – Monday 8th April 7:30 pm
Parents are invited to the Parents and Friends meeting on Monday night at 7:30 pm in the staffroom. It is a good opportunity to be involved in the school and have input into ways that we can continue to assist all students during their time at St Michael’s.
Stations of the Cross
We invite the school community to attend our Stations of the Cross on Wednesday 10th April in the school hall at 9 am. Guests are asked to be seated or stand towards the back of the hall while the students sit in the middle and the stations around the students.
Following the Stations of the Cross, Year 5 and 6 will be going down to the BI to participate in a challenge for Project Compassion. Students will be in teams of 4 or 5 and will carry water the length of the BI to recreate the walk of Thandalwayo, a young girl from Zimbabwe who walked 7km each morning to fetch water for her family. Nathan Leber from Caritas Australia will also visit to speak to the students about the Project Compassion and the positive impact our donations can have.
For our last part, we are aiming to fill this sign with coins to donate to Project Compassion at recess on Wednesday. A big thanks to Mrs Shanahan for creating the sign and I look forward to seeing it filled with coins!
