Message from the Principal – Newsletter 14

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Please continue to keep Mrs Tania Falappi and her family in your thoughts and prayers as her son’s funeral is held this weekend. Tania has expressed her thanks to the St. Michael’s community who have provided her with overwhelming support over the last two weeks. Thank you for your care and concern for Tania and your understanding and flexibility with the uniform shop hours! Tania has indicated that, at this stage, the uniform shop hours should be back to normal next week, however we ask you to continue to be flexible – should things change we will let you know via text message.

Book Donations for Outdoor Library

We are currently working on creating an outdoor library for students to use at break times which will be located on the Year 1 verandah. We are seeking donations of second hand children’s books so that students can have some options to read in addition to their current library book. If you have any second books that you are able to donate, please send them into reception.

3 Year Old Kindergarten 2020 or 2021

We are currently investigating our options in terms of setting up a 3 year old kindergarten in either 2020 or 2021 to operate on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays when the Kindy room is not in use. We have received in principle approval from CEWA, however, as no funding is available for 3 year old kindergarten programs, it would need to be self-funded by the school on a user pays basis. Hence, it is vital that, before we proceed any further with our plans, we determine the level of interest for this service in the community and whether or not this is a financially viable option for us. To assist us with our planning, if you are interested in this service, we ask that you complete the survey below. Please assist us also by passing this link on to any of your friends who may also be interested and share it amongst your friends at mother’s groups, day cares etc.

Extra Long Weekend Coming Up!

An important reminder that next weekend is an extra long weekend for St. Michael’s as we have our ‘Catholic Day’. This is an extra day of leave that staff in Catholic schools receive in recognition of the extra out of hours events that they are required to attend such as weekend sacramental events. Our Catholic day will be on Tuesday 4th June and the school will be closed on this date. Staff and students will return to school on Wednesday 5th June.

Confirmation

Congratulations to our Year 6 students who were Confirmed on Sunday by Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton! We hope you and your families enjoyed a very special day! Thank you to Father Son and the parish and to Mrs Katherine Riolo, Mr Ryan Powles and all the staff who assisted in various ways!

God bless
