Evacuation Drill Next Week

Next week we will be conducting an evacuation drill. Please do not be alarmed if you are onsite during the drill. Please join in and follow the instructions of the staff.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent-teacher interviews will be conducted over the coming weeks. This year we will be using an online booking system. Instructions will be sent home to parents next week. A reminder that Kindy to Year 2 parent meetings are between the parents and the teacher whereas the Year 3 –  6 meetings will be three-way interviews between the student, parent and teacher. These meetings are an important part of our formal reporting schedule and are a vital opportunity to touch base with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress so far this year. We strongly encourage all parents to attend.

Digital Citizenship and eSafety

The Keeping Safe curriculum and ICT general capability (in the Australian Curriculum) both highlight the need for students to experience online environments safely and responsibly. Teachers establish digital protocols with their classes and provide opportunities for students to practice digital etiquette when using devices to enhance learning. As well as operating under strict internet filters, strategies that are explicitly taught to students include;

• keeping private information private,
• reporting anything that makes students feel unsafe or uncomfortable
• not sharing passwords with anyone
• understanding digital ownership and intellectual property
• evaluating the accuracy of online information
• maintaining expected standards of online behaviour and understanding your “digital footprint”

We endeavour to support all families in keeping children safe online. The iParent resource on the Office of the eSafety Commissioner’s website has lots of resources and articles with practical ways of protecting children at home while using digital devices.
