All Saints Day

In the Church calendar, today is the Feast of All Saints, or All Hallows’ Day. In past times, this was a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls’ Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven.

 Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have gone before us. Bless the memories of your saints. May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of faith, dedication, worship, and love, in the honour and noble victory of the martyrs.
