Message from the Principal – Newsletter 12

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Congratulations to our Year 4 students who received the sacrament of Eucharist for the first time on the weekend! Thank you to Mr David Caddy and Mr Ryan Powles for all the hard work that went into organising this special occasion and to all the staff who attended to support these students and their families. Thank you also to the parish and Father Son for helping to make this such a special occasion.

Road Safety

We had a near miss this week on the road outside school – which a timely reminder for us all to please be vigilant about road safety. We ask parents to please keep a close eye on their children when walking across the road, particularly between the parked cars as drivers often cannot see young children walking through the vehicles. A reminder to parents to cross the road to collect students rather than calling them from across the road. Students crossing James St to walk home must ask a teacher to help them cross the road – please assist us by reminding them of this. Thank you for helping us to keep all students safe, particularly by driving cautiously in school zones.

Pre-service Teachers and Volunteers

This term we are lucky to have a number of extra people assisting around the school.

Mr Patrick Harmon and Miss Natasha Carvalho are pre-service teachers from Notre Dame University who are working in Years 4 and 2 respectively for ten weeks. Miss Georgia Rossi has been assisting in Pre-primary on Thursdays and we also thank Miss Kaylene Bederman who is an early childhood pre-service teacher in her final year, who is volunteering in Pre-primary this term on Mondays and Tuesdays. We hope they all feel welcomed into the St. Michael’s community during their time with us.

Running Club

Our apologies that the information placed in last week’s newsletter about the running club was incorrect. Currently the running club is full, but please keep an eye out on the Connected App for available places in the upcoming terms.

Mothers’ Day

Thank you to Miss Natalie Pin and Mr Ryan Powles for co-ordinating our Mothers’ Day events today and to all the staff for their support. Thank you to all the mothers, grandmothers and family members who attended. We wish all the mothers in our school community a wonderful day on Sunday!

God bless

Dr Siobhan Galos
