24:7 Youth Group Friday Night

After a great start to Term 4 and pumping the youth up for our combined event with 24:7 Morley, we are glad to say our event ‘Shindig’ was a success with 40 teens coming along, 19 from Bassendean.

What a fun night filled with many activities and mini games to challenge the youth to test their skills, to build relationships and to show them that they are not alone in their journey of faith.

The night started off with a series of mini games that the youth could challenge themselves and their friends in, proving very difficult but a lot of fun. We then led into a couple of whole group games where for the first game we were divided into two mixed teams from both Bassendean and Morley, with a round of ‘Golden Child’.

It was high paced and high energy as both teams ended up winning their rounds. Our second group activity was a Bassendean vs Morley Dance Off battle! Again, the four rounds were very competitive but there could only be one winner in the end.

Finishing off with an awesome sausage sizzle provided by some of our volunteer leaders for the night and then some free time to continue mixing and mingling with our new friends.

It was also great to be present for Mass on Sunday.

Absence Calls / Notes / Emails

Please note, teachers do not get to sit down and check their emails first thing in the morning, so if you have emailed the teacher regarding your child’s absence, they may not receive the information until later in the day. Therefore, please do not be upset if you receive an SMS or phone call from the Office to clarify the absence.

For this reason, a phone call to the ABSENTEE LINE is a more efficient way of communicating an absence than an email. Please note also, a SIGNED NOTE also needs to be provided to the teacher on your child’s return to school. The Department of Education Services has confirmed that whilst an SMS or phone message is NOT a substitute for a signed note when reporting absences, an email meeting the following criteria can be accepted:

  • the full name of the student
  • the class / roll group of the student
  • the reason for the absence
  • the full name of the parent/guardian at the end of the message (the ‘from’ email address is not sufficient).
